Humans’ thoughts ‘are seen by dogs’

DOGS are more likely to steal food if they think it is too dark for their owners to see them, a study has found.

Experts say it proves for the first time mutts understand a human’s point of view.
Researchers at Portsmouth University discovered dogs who were put in a room with food but forbidden to take it were four times more likely to disobey if the lights were turned off.
And the darker the room was, the more food the pets ate.
Psychologist Dr Juliane Kaminski said: “It suggests dogs are deciding it’s safer to steal food when the room is dark because they understand something of the human’s perspective.”
- SEVEN in ten dog owners do not cuddle their partner to avoid making their pet jealous, says a poll by MedicAnimal.com.
