COMIC John Bishop gets a ball kicked in his face by Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler after a halftime joke went painfully wrong last night.
The gaffe happened during a blindfold penalty shootout at the interval of Liverpool's match against West Brom at Anfield.
As a masked Fowler placed the ball on the spot, Scouse joker Bishop decided to crawl in front of him - only for the former striker to punt the ball into his jaw from just inches away.
The stand-up comedian reeled away laughing - but no doubt in pain - as thousands in the crowd broke into cheers and giggles.
Former Liverpool goal machine Fowler, who netted 120 goals for the club, couldn't hide his amusement either.
The incident was aired on Sky Sports who was covering the Premier League clash. It happened while the cameras were on an advert break but was shown when viewers returned.
The pair had been invited on to the pitch to take spot kicks in front of the famous Kop End to raise awareness of
Liverpool’s “Seeing Is Believing” charity initiative.
The home side - who went on to lose the match 2-0 in a surprise defeat - wore the slogan across their famous red shirts on the night, which will later be be auctioned.
The charity works to eradicate avoidable blindness in developing countries.
Liverpool skipper Steven Gerrard said before the match: “You realise at the time how difficult it is without your sight. Especially doing activities.
“We were involved in a penalty shoot-out using a blindfold and it's so difficult.
“It was really enjoyable to take part and very important for myself and the club as well to play our part and try to help these people.”
