It’s war of the roses

Treats for sweets ... Valentine's gift selection

LOVE may be blind but now it can also be cheap — as retailers go into battle to win hard-up Brits’ affection on Valentine’s Day.

Blokes can find a single red rose for £1, a dozen for £3 or champagne for a tenner.
With the supermarket giants slashing prices to woo customers down their aisles, shopping around can see a dozen roses, bubbly and a meal deal picked up for £21.
Tesco roses are £1 and Lidl has a bunch of twelve for just £3. Tesco, Asda and Morrisons are offering a dozen for only a fiver.
Cupids can also enjoy Asda’s £10 Louvel Fontaine Champagne Brut or Marks & Spencer’s romantic three-course meal for £20.
- LOVE Actually is the nation’s most romantic movie — putting one in five couples in a loving mood — followed by The Notebook and Wall-E according to LOVEFiLM.
